Yeaahhhhh... this is just a quick blog entry to let you guys know that you can blog for free on this site. All you really have to do is register for an account (which is free), and then you'll see a "Blog" link up at the top right corner of this website when you're logged in.
From there you can make as many blogs as you want, and when other people look at your user profile, your blog entries will be visible. Also if you write a really rad blog, I may feature it sometime. [...]
So ... I've been dancing around this idea for a long long time, but you've probably already gathered from the title of this blog that I'm thinking about making all my music free.
Some of you are probably thinking "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY", and I'm glad. You're the biggest reason why I'd like to do this, of course.
Others are probably thinking "Oh nyooooooo Mike! What about all teh moniezez omggggz!!!1"
You know what though? The funny thing about this situation is... I don't make that much money from music. Seriously. At least not from digital downloads. I do get lucky sometimes and make a ton of money selling CDs at a live show, or getting paid to show up and play music somewhere, or getting free money/merch to rep some company for a brief time. And of course the occasional fan will buy a T-Shirt. Those things are rad, of course. [...]
Happy Mother's Day to all the mama's out there, trying to do the best for their kids, and those soaking up all the glory for the years they've already put in.
If you're not a mom, give a mom a hug today!
And yeah... I guess you could say I didn't plan out the release date of my new single very well. As usual I was just really really excited about it and went "Well how about a week and a half from now derpppppp".
Wait no, maybe I did that on purpose just so you'd think it was funny and buy all my music lol. [...]
This is just a quick blog to remind all you bloggers out there, that I like to link back to my reviewers.
That means if you write a blog about me or my music, I'll give you a link back here, and then possibly a shout out on my social networking profiles, which have combined audiences of over 50,000. I don't care how small your blog is. If you spent the time to write something up, I care enough to give you a quick shout out back. [...]
I just caught the story about "Amanda Berry", a girl kidnapped for 10 years who was finally rescued recently (link). Its really nice to see someone stay alive so long and finally get fee, yet at the same time sucks that they were even kidnapped in the first place.
Then there's someone called "Sylvia Browne" (website) who apparently is a self proclaimed psychic, who regularly appears (or appeared, I'm not sure) on the Montel Williams show to give psychic advice and readings to people. [...]
The song is called "I'm Such a Drag (Just Sometimes)". I know I know. Laugh it up, but that's the title I went for lol.
So yeah - at this very moment, you can already pre-order it on my little page at BandCamp. I'm setting the price at $1 as usual. Pay more if you can. Listen for free after the release date here or on Spotify and ish.
Also I think I keep forgetting to mention this, but if you really don't have the cash, you can still earn a free copy of this and any other Mp3. All you have to do is pretty much be awesomely supportive, then ask. I give stuff away all the time. Well maybe I'll wait a month or so after this one releases, but you know what I'm saying. [...]
So I'm basically just sitting here, feeling completely useless as usual, when it dawned on me - I'm a busy guy. Well I guess we already knew that. The point is that I often feel like I'm not getting very much done, despite feeling short on time all day long.
My friend showed me an article about some new syndrome, roughly called "Busy Lifestyle Syndrome", which apparently makes you feel forgetful. Well hey... I'm really forgetful. lol.
Okay anyway, I thought it might be fun to list the things I've done today, just for the sake of my own posterity. Keep in mind that today is one of those days I feel I've gotten nothing done. [...]
I haven't written a blog in awhile, so I'm just here to complain today.
I really want to see the movie Oblivion with Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman, and my first thought was "Oh I'll ask my family to go. They all sounded interested in that one Yaaaaaaaaaayyyyy". This sounded like a good plan inside my head.
Then it occurred me, what usually happens:
Phase 1 - The family makes plans to see some movie together
Phase 2 - Mikey gets really really excited about alllllll the fun we're about to have
Phase 3 - Three days later, while hanging out or having food together or something, my sister and/or brother in law inform me something to the effect of "Oh yeah, sorry. We were bored last night so we went and saw it by ourselves"
Phase 4 - Mikey never ends up seeing the movie until its out on mother fucking DVD
I have a quick request... if you are in the OC/Costa-Mesa area, by the South Coast Plaza mall, I need your help!
My Sony Store exhibit finally went live, and now I need votes!
If you're in the area or can drop by, I need you to:
1 - Walk into the Sony Store
2 - Find the "The Contested" display, which has a bunch of those cool headphones lined up, and its basically underneath a TV that occasionally shows my photo
3 - Snap a quick photo of yourself wearing those headphones and tweet it out using the hashtags #Sony714 and #MikePeralta [...]
My #SonyStore exhibit is almost ready to be featured here in costa mesa! I re-imagined two songs for this project, and guess which one was your "fans' choice"?
Well I think early on it was kind of obvious. I got like 10 emails about it almost immediately, and nearly everything else was the same. So yeah, two new remixes of my music, and I'll be featured in my local #Sony714 song very soon.
